A new viewpoint to observe the remains of the Mill

The City Council has conditioned this monument, of which its vestiges remained; environment in which a rest area has been designed with a viewpoint located on the riverbed of the Aljufía Canal. The new viewpoint also offers views of the adjoining plots, to which the operation of the Mill was traditionally linked.

In addition, exhibition panels have been installed providing information related to the Mill’s history and ancient functions, and the footbridge that crossed the canal has been restored, becoming a pedestrian bridge that allows groups safe passage and offers a great view of the river bed.

As a whole, the project for the rehabilitation of the Gunpowder Mill, designed by Santa Cruz Arquitectos and by the archaeologists from Arqueotec, and carried out under the direction of the Municipal Project Office, has contemplated the enhancement of the remains of the mill itself. Specifically, the work began in October 2019 and ended in July 2020.
