La Luz Visitor Centre
The environment
La Luz Visitor Centre is located in the Natural Park of El Valle, just 7 kilometres from the city of Murcia.
The Park, in addition to an incomparable natural environment for recreation and leisure, is a lung of oxygen for the city and a place much loved by Murcian citizens.
At present, this natural space is proposed to join the future Natura 2000 Network (European Network of Natural Spaces). In addition, large areas of the Park have been declared Special Protection Zones for Birds (ZEPA) and a Site of Community Interest (SCI), both on a European scale.
Building
With the construction and start-up of the Visitor Centre, Murcia City Council shows its interest in making sustainable development, nature conservation and public use compatible.
The purpose of this centre, inaugurated on December 21st, 2004, is to take advantage of the natural and heritage resources of the area and turn it into a first-rate tourist destination.
Permanent exhibitions
The protected area of El Valle-Sierra de Carrascoy and its natural heritage resources can be seen in a global and educational. Visitorscan access the exhibition space, divided into three thematic sections: "The Valley of the Iberians", "Medieval Fortifications and Spirituality" and “La Seda in Murcia".
The spatial and chronological journey begins with the Iberian world, highlighting the antiquity of human presence in this place, from there you access the spiritual world of hermitages, convents and sanctuaries that were emerging around the caves and ridges of the area and finish going through an era in which the place was frequented by families in search of summer rest.

Centre hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
