Festivals
The city of Murcia welcomes many festivals throughout the year that turn its streets into a stage for music and culture. Among them we highlight the Murcia Tres Culturas International Festival, a cultural manifestation that removes barriers and places Murcia as a capital of international reference. This festival is built on one main foundation: the promotion of tolerance and respect. Since its first edition in 2000, the festival has been hosted performances by artists such as Amancio Prada, Derviches Danzantes, Orquesta FadilaTetuani, Goran Bregovic, El Lebrijano, Enrique Morente, Noa, Michale Nyman, and Wim Mertens, among others.
This inclusive approach to musical culture and folklore for other backgrounds is manifested in the oldest of our festivals (which celebrated its 50th edition in 2018), the International Mediterranean Folklore Festival, an event that integrates different sensibilities of folklore and that has the main purpose of combining modernity with tradition through cultural expansion, study and research.
Other outstanding festivals held throughout the year are the Lemon Pop Festival, scheduled for the first days of September, and the recently recovered Murcia Jazz festival.
